Climate

Nova Scotia’s climate, like its atmospheric beauty, is inherited from the ocean. All year long, ocean breezes lend a refreshing vibrancy to the air. The province’s four-season splendour is a temperate idyll, perfect for year round living for primary homebuyers or as an ideal escape for the second or third time homebuyer.

Thanks in part to the Gulf Stream waters, Halifax is blessed with idyllic warm summer days that give way to leisurely falls, mild winters, and vibrant springs. Halifax enjoys the second warmest climate in Canada. It rarely suffers from extreme winter conditions and has pleasant summers with average temperatures in the mid to high 20°C range (80-90°F).

The influence of the sea on the Province’s climate is not surprising as Nova Scotia would be an island but for a slender corridor of land that connects it to the rest of Canada. Surrounded by the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the north, the Bay of Fundy to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south and east, Nova Scotia experiences a true marine climate.
